About

radiologytrainee.org is a free practice resource for clinical radiology registrars preparing for the RANZCR Phase 2 OSCER and for consultant-led tutorials.

Who it’s for

Registrars practising image interpretation and viva technique, and supervisors running small-group teaching. The cases are pitched at registrar exam level and use Australian terminology and practice where relevant.

How to use a case

  1. Start the timer (3 minutes by default, the time for one OSCER case; longer options are there for tutorials) and study the history and images.
  2. Answer each core question aloud before you open Reveal answer. Use Next question to move on, as an examiner would. When a case releases a further image, press Release next image when you reach that point.
  3. Mark yourself against the marking guide: each point shows its marks, and each answer shows its domain (Observation, Interpretation, Management/Safety, Applied sciences or Intrinsic roles) and any examiner notes. The annotated image appears with the first answer.
  4. Beyond the exam: the teaching extension continues up to ten questions (mimics, pitfalls, complications, guidelines and report wording). It is not part of the 10-mark OSCER block.
  5. Finally, reveal the diagnosis, key takeaways and syllabus mapping. Reveal all opens everything at once for tutorial review, and Reset starts again.

Tip for tutors: put the page on a projector and keep the answers closed while registrars take turns.

Content and images

All images are publicly licensed teaching images (Creative Commons or public domain) from Wikimedia Commons, with credits on every case and on the image credits page. No hospital or PACS images and no patient-identifiable data are published. Clinical histories are written for teaching and may be illustrative. Answers are written in the style of a RANZCR marking guide but are not official RANZCR marking guides, and no RANZCR sample-question images are reproduced. Management points reflect common Australian practice and should always be checked against current local guidelines.
